EDUCATION

The Toronto based Fashion Exchange offers today’s aspiring fashion students and active industry professionals both Postgraduate level studies and access to skills based employment training programs taught hands-on in our urban manufacturing facility. Developed in collaboration with industry partners, these programs have been designed to help fill real workplace needs while building in-demand skills for tomorrow’s workforce.

LIST OF PROGRAMS

FAST TRACK

APPAREL FIT TECHNICIAN

The fast track Apparel Fit Technician program allows students to learn and recognize good apparel fit, identify fit problems and how to correct them while learning the different body types and ideal fit standards.

INDUSTRIAL POWER SEWING

The fast track Industrial Power Sewing program teaches students how to operate industrial sewing equipment and to assemble garments for production. Students will learn how to operate single needle, serger and other specialty machines used in garment manufacturing.

WOMEN IN FASHION TECHNOLOGY

The fast track Women in Fashion Technology program provides women the digital and hands on training to secure highly skilled employment in the fashion industry. This NEW Fashion Exchange program includes specializations such as knitting, laser cutting, dye sublimation printing and embroidery.

POST-SECONDARY

FASHION MANAGEMENT F102

The Fashion Management two-year diploma program will show you how to apply marketing and merchandising strategies to maximize product success in the market. You’ll gain a deep understanding of textiles, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics. You’ll also develop expertise in managing the value, costing, and quality of apparel. Plus, industry knowledge will be at your fingertips through field education experience, alongside the unique opportunity to manage an on-campus retail store. Join us in the School of Fashion and Jewellery, where you’ll experience a diverse, hands-on learning environment, including many engaging extracurricular activities.

FASHION BUSINESS INDUSTRY F112

Our two-year Fashion Business Industry diploma program offers a blend of business management and technical skills necessary for small- to medium-sized businesses in the apparel fashion industry. This entrepreneurial-focused program will guide you through crafting a comprehensive business plan, which is essential to launching or managing a business. You’ll gain an understanding of textiles, garment construction, quality criteria, and apparel merchandising, while learning to apply marketing, accounting, financial, and other business concepts essential for thriving in the fashion business industry.

FASHION TECHNIQUES AND DESIGN F113

The Fashion Techniques and Design two-year diploma program prepares you for an exciting career in garment-manufacturing design rooms. This is a women’s wear program that focuses on pattern drafting and sewing skills. Using industrial machines, you’ll learn the essentials of technical illustration, pattern making, pattern grading, and clothing construction. Additional core subjects include textiles, technical specifications, and history of costume.
