George Brown College announces campus expansion

Toronto’s George Brown College announced on Monday plans to expand its Waterfront Campus to include a new facility, much to the benefit of its fashion design students.

The new facility is set to open at Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts, just blocks from George Brown’s Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences.

The $59-million facility will house part of George Brown’s School of Design, including its interdisciplinary design studio and Institute without Boundaries. What’s more, thanks to a $15.6 million contribution from the federal Government, the mixed-use Daniels Waterfront complex will also house George Brown’s new “Innovation Exchange”. The Innovation Exchange will be a specialized research, innovation and training centre that will offer programs focused on industry-identified, specialized skills.

“We are very excited to continue to develop our Waterfront Campus and take another step forward in the revitalization of the East Bayfront community,” says Anne Sado, George Brown College President, in a news statement. “What’s more, our new Innovation Exchange will improve innovation literacy and help the economy prosper through the digital age.”

The new campus is scheduled for occupancy in Fall/Winter 2018.
